There is no better way to teach students about The Great Depression than through the eyes of a CCC boy.  Massive unemployment inspired President Roosevelt to create a public works program that placed 17-21 year old youth in work camps, reforesting logged over lands, fighting forest fires and taking on dozens of other projects.

Students learn about growing up in The Great Depression, and how the corps changed their lives for the better.  The stories are about young men who learned discipline, respect, and the value of hard work. Students learn about how the camps were run, what the boys ate and how the money sent back to their parents help put food on the table.

This is another eye- opening assembly, which will remain with students long after they participate in the program. While many stories are full of humor, others are heartfelt and speak of the great struggles young people endured during the economic depression. A seven minute video Bill produced, helps bring these stories to life along with his original songs and stories.
